What is a dental implant?<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A dental implant is an artificial titanium root surgically placed into the jawbone. Once integrated into the bone \u2014 a process called osseointegration \u2014 it receives a crown that replaces the missing tooth in a stable and durable way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My implant practice is based on a simple principle: respecting the existing bone capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I only work in biologically favorable situations \u2014 with sufficient bone volume, without resorting to xenografts or extensive bone grafts. This conservative approach is not a limitation \u2014 it is a clinical conviction. Intervening under good biological conditions guarantees better osseointegration and more stable results over time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the bone situation does not allow for placement under these conditions \u2014 I state it clearly to the patient and guide them toward the most suitable solution for their situation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The two-stage protocol<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the vast majority of cases, I perform a two-stage placement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stage 1 \u2014 Implant Placement<\/strong> The implant is surgically placed in the bone. A healing period is necessary \u2014 generally 2 to 4 months depending on bone quality \u2014 to allow for complete osseointegration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stage 2 \u2014 Crown Placement<\/strong> Once the implant is well integrated, the final crown is created and fitted. This is the stage where digital dentistry comes into play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This two-stage approach is not a constraint \u2014 it is the guarantee of a stable and durable result.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Thanks to CEREC, the crown on the implant can be created and fitted during the same session as the loading \u2014 intra-oral scan, design, and manufacturing at the clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This option is offered when the implant shows sufficient stability and clinical conditions allow for it. It reduces the number of appointments and eliminates unnecessary temporary stages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
